Christmas Decoration - part 4

Vintage Casual Christmas
In order to complement the grass cloth wallpaper in this living room, a more organic approach was taken for the focal point. A woven basket serves as the tree’s base, stockings are made from burlap, and an old, antique wheel covered in garland gives the mantel a country-Christmas vibe.

Garden Goods
Clip greenery from your garden for this festive look -- fir, cedar, pine, holly, or boxwood all bring fragrance and texture to your home. Add splashes of red and white with poinsettias and paperwhites.

Mantel Magic
Let nature be your guide when decorating this winter. This mantel is festively draped with cedar garland, layered potted flowers, frosted pinecones, reindeer moss ornaments, and kumquats on branches.

Dallas Front Door
Nothing makes a more gracious entrance than an embellished wreath of noble fir, juniper, and cedar. Simply add a few pinecones, and loosely tie on a big burlap bow. A mercury glass ornament adds some vintage sparkle.

Crimson Christmas Dining
Lighten the mood in the dining room by skipping the heavy linens. Use chargers instead of place mats or tablecloths, and casually slip napkins through rings. A classic red-and-white color scheme feels casual with beachy accents and scarves thrown over chair backs.

Statement-Making Dining Room
This dining room in Dallas features a hand-painted Raj-inspired mural and custom balloon-back dining chairs covered in linen. (The linen has been gauffraged with a botanical pattern resembling damask.) An antique tole-and-crystal chandelier lights the room. A festive floral arrangement is all it takes to update this dining room for the holidays.

New Look

Dazzle dinner guests with a silver-and-sage tableau that embraces both old and new. Whimsical print napkins, colorful ribbon, and a low flower arrangement bring color and interest to the space while still letting guests chat.

Coastal Sunporch
A new painted settee is paired with an antique painted bench-turned-coffee table. Bring an area like this one into cooler months with greenery and a cozy throw blanket.

Elegant Mountain Christmas
The symmetrical, widely spaced branches of this red fir are ideal for hanging long, elegant ornaments such as sparkling icicles. Light and airy, the decorations allow the majestic mountains and lake near the house to become part of the holiday scene.

Holiday Drama
A topiary of roses, pears, and hydrangeas takes center stage on the table, while a garland decorated with prized ornaments frames the scene in this Dallas home.

Rustic Holiday Stairs

The rustic entryway and stairwell receive a touch of holiday décor with simple greenery on the railing.

Coastal Holiday Dining Room

Bright greens with hints of red provide a playful twist on classic holiday decor in this Bermuda dining room.

Rosemary Tabletop Tree

Dress up a rosemary topiary with tiny clip-on ornaments. It’s a thoughtful gift that lasts all year, offering tender shoots for clipping and adding to favorite recipes.

Candyland Dining Room

Yellow Gracie wallpaper and tiger-patterned upholstery become a textural backdrop for a children’s wonderland of sweets displayed on the dining room table of this Dallas, home.

Ocean View Christmas

Simple silver and gold ornaments adorn this coastal Christmas tree and complement the sleek, modern style of this California living room.

Holly for the Holidays

Holly branches on the center of the dining room table and on the buffet are a classic way to bring the Christmas spirit into your home.

Classic Christmas Tree

The traditional Christmas tree in the front hall of this New Orleans home is decked in red, complementing the antique painting and Oriental rug of this living room.

Evergreen Mantelpiece

A pinecone-and-evergreen string of garland spices up this mantelpiece for the holidays. With white berries and a bit of ribbon, this natural accent gets a bit of elegance.

Exuberant Christmas Tree

In this Texas living room, the Christmas tree complements the traditional feel of the Colonial-style home and its interiors. Red-and-gold ribbon cascade down the tree, and multicolored ornaments collected over the years remind the family of vacations and fond memories.

Southern-style Mantelpiece

In this Atlanta, Georgia home, a quintessential Southern icon, the magnolia, is incorporated into its elegant Christmas decorations. Garland made from dried magnolia trees surrounds the mantelpiece, creating a dramatic yet simple effect.

Fireside Conversation Space
This little nook is perfect for curling up by the fire or drinking a cup of hot chocolate. A pair of high-backed benches creates symmetry and encourages conversation.

Simple String of Garland
If your living room is simple and traditional, a simple string of garland is all it takes to spruce up your fireplace for the holidays.

Risk Taker
Rather than using traditional red, green, and gold, this Atlanta homeowner decorated her family Christmas tree with colors inspired by her living room. A flocked Christmas tree and bright gold and silver ornaments look elegant and exciting in her all-white-and-yellow living room.

Indoor Garlands

Dress up built-in shelves or nooks with strands of cedar, ribbons of eucalyptus bark and tufts of dried moss. Soak the eucalyptus bark for several hours to make it pliable. Blot the excess water, and use hot glue to fasten an end of the bark to the back of the garland. Wrap it loosely around the garland and attach the other end to the back of the garland with more hot glue. To preserve the bark's color, rub in some vegetable oil. Glue on dried moss for additional decoration.

Jewel by the Sea
On the porch at left, garlands of stringy cedar hang from railings, windows, and the door frame, combining the look of seaweed with the scent of Christmas. This small tree twinkes in a spectrum of blues, greens, and purples. Its branches hang heavy with chunks of sea glass. Beneath, beach rocks take the place of presents.

Glorious Greenery

The boxwood garland adorning the stone mantel at left adds a touch of color, like ribbon on a package. Boxwood isn't as full or thick as Fraser fir or magnolia, making it perfect for narrow mantels. A magnolia wreath is a nice complement to the boxwood garland. A satin bow adds some red, and rich wood candlesticks and beeswax candles cast a warm glow. Use florist water picks, and place fresh greenery and berries in the garland on each end of the mantel, making sure the florist picks are hidden.

Special Effects

Hand-painted tree ornaments echo the soft hues of an Oushak carpet in this Virginia villa's living room, which features the colorul Christmas vision of designer Mary Douglas Drysdale.

Cozy Family Tree

Brightly-colored baubles, wide red ribbon, and pretty strings of lights dress up this evergreen
